Which degree would be the best to enhance my creative writing skills, while still giving a generous amount of job opportunities?
What is the best USA university that offers and intense writing degreeThis program should have published authors as professors. A wide array of writing classes and specific writing degrees. Do any of the Ivy League Universities offer graduate degrees in Creative Writing
I have looked at them all and it's always Literature or Enlgish majors with an emphasis on Creative Writing.
Where do you go after getting a creative writing degreeI want to pursue a major in creative writing, and eventually become a fiction writer, but my question is, besides teaching english (which I NEVER picture myself doing), what is there for someone with a creative writing degree to do before they have written any books. My mom says a degree in creative writing is like signing up to work at Starbuck's until i get published, is this the case?
What can I do with a creative writing degreeI love to write creative things such as poetry and short stories, but I don't know what I would be able to do with the creative writing degree.
Besides an author or poet, what can I do with a creative writing degree?
Is a Creative Writing degree a waste of timeI am considering getting an MFA in Creative Writing. Is this a waste of time? I want to be a novelist but I also want to be able to get a good job in case I do not get published in the foreseeable future. Will the Creative Writing degree be worth the time it takes to get and make me a much better writer or will it just be a waste of my time?
Does getting university degrees in things like creative writing kill your love for the subjectI'm in the middle of an absolutely brutal class on formal poetry, and after a semester's worth of composing a poem a week, I worry that I am beginning to hate poetry itself (especially my own). I have a feeling that this will pass as soon as I get through the class and the deadlines and restrictions are lifted, but still... The burnout is worrisome.
Anyone have any experience/wisdom in this sector?
Thank you!
Is the HP notebook that twists 180 degrees a good writing padI'm thinking about the getting the hp notebook that has the touch screen capability. I'm not however sure if it's really that great a writing pad. I was also wondering what other option people who have it like about it..

What degrees are there in creative writing or multiple language studies
Writers Benefits of formal college writing degreesMy question is for experienced writers, especially those who have a degree in creative writing or something similiar.
Writing is my hobby which I truly enjoy, but I have never had anything published to date so I state that I am a true novice. However, I am at a point where I would like to delve further into the world of writing, with the hopes of becoming published one day.
I see various, expensive programs for Masters Degrees in Writing (MFA degrees). My undergrad is in business, so while I am educated, my former courses have not been writing-oriented.
To pursue my dream, I write as much as possible. But I see options, such as these Masters Degree programs in writing, and I wonder, can they really make a difference? I am close enough to many colleges that offer such programs, including Emerson College in Boston which has a strong program.
My first question is, is it worth it? It's expensive, but can it really make a difference as opposed to not going; i.e. can they teach you things and get you the connections that you likely won't get anywhere else?
Also, my undergrad is not in English or a more applicable field - would this be a hinderance, and is obtaining an undergrad in English first possibly a better idea?
Lastly, I wonder if it could be a waste of money, in that I may get similiar information from the books I have read on writing, etc., and there is always opportunity to take short writing workshops....
Tough call, but I would love to hear from those with experience in this area.
What actual degrees are recommended for a career in screenwriting or writing for television in generalThis is something that has been bothering me for a while. I'm currently in the midst of a major change in university and I'm unsure of really what programs I really want to be in to best hone what I think I'm best at.
My previous major before the reconsideration was Film/Video with an emphasis on Animation, focusing more on the actual animatic process. This was chosen because my goal previously was, and remains to work my way to a position where I can viably pitch and write an animated series.
Before I say anything else, I'd like to mention that you don't have to tell me how hard it would. Everyone else in the world has already.
Over the past year my priorities have shifted more into writing over art, with my current plan involving attempting to break into the industry via writing for other shows before trying to pitch. I've considered switching to an English major with a creative writing emphasis. I just don't know what the people that hire actually look for in a writer.
I should have specified a few things a bit further, althoug I don't know whether it will make a difference; the writing for television means more of the writing fiction and scripts and such for fiction programs in contrast to newswork or nonfiction writing; while I have done that sort of writing previously, I'd like to think that I'm better at creative fiction writing, without sounding too condescending...
Community colleges that offer creative writing degrees
What can I do with a Certificate in Technical Writing and Professional WritingI am currently a history major. I though a certificate in Technical Writing and Professional Writing might be something good to supplement my degree with, as I do a lot of writing and research anyway. I was just wondering what people with technical & professional writing degrees/certificates do. Would it be worth it for me to try to earn this certificate?

In America Which Universites Are Good For Creative Writing and English Literature DegreesIn about two years time, I'll hopefully be studying Creative Writing and/or English Literaute in an American University. However, because I live in England my 'research' (for lack of a better word) is limited. Anywho, to start off with, I was wondering if you could give/recommend a list of American Universites with good Creative Writing and/or English Literature Courses so I can start looking at them and applying.
It would be greatly appreciated,
