The marketing degree would be a business degree with a concentration in marketing, and I would most likely minor in mass communication. I am unsure if I want to go into a marketing career or a public relations career, but I feel the the marketing major covers more. If I were to change my mind later, I believe that it would be easier to major in a marketing and get a career in public relations than it would be to major in public relations and get a career in marketing. Am I correct?

I want to get into a public relations career, but I'm not sure if the job in general is profitable enough to support me and my (soon-to-be) family. I have a degree in communications and public relations from American University, but I have no experience in the field. Hello! I graduated in Dec. '05 with a BS degree in Communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. I don't want to go into a broadcasting job, but I got so far along in my degree I just finished it to have it. I'm now considering the idea of going back to school and getting a master's in PR to make myself marketable in the corporate world. My problems with PR are that I have never liked the idea of manipulating the public. PR always appeared to be a rather sleazey idea (no offense intended) I think that if I worked for a non-profit, a school system or a hospital, it would be easier to deal with and more fullfilling to me. Does anybody here presently or formerly work in Public Relations? What is a typical day like? Do you like it/hate it and why? If you left, why did you leave and what are you doing now? Sorry for the loaded question. Do you look at PR in a negative light as a profession?

Communications or Public Relations?

I am currently enrolling into colleges and i have always been interested in the communication field. Is the public relation field a good career? What are some public relation career options and can someone please explain to me (on a level that i can understand) what people in this career field actually do?

i am going to pursue my bachelors in economics from fergusson.but i am not sure aout my masters. mba seems a narrow option to me since it has only 4 specialisations. i also have a keen interest in the fields of career in public relations, creative designing, marketing and advertising. i am in search of universities or institutes in india or elsewhere which cater to a combination of these courses. or else i would like to know which one of this am i fit for.

Also, what areas? I'm also minoring in theatre to help with my communication skills.
