However, I have no clue on how anyone would go about starting a career in this field. I am particularly interested in freelance copywriting. I was wondering if anyone out here had any good advice or tips on how to start out in this business. I would like to start on a part time basis doing freelance work and hopefully take it from there.

How do you start a writing career and quickly see profitI love writing but have been published once when I was in sixth grade. ( I'am now much older) I need to be able to make a little profit but I'am confused about who to write for. I've looked in several different magazines but the competition seems rough considering that I do not have any clips. I 'am struggling with how to start and have overwhelmed myself with technical writing, copywriting, etc. Any help is much appreciated.
Copywriting and BA DegreesI mainly want to work in the advertising sector. I want to write ad copy and slogans. I am wondering about the education required for being a copywriter. I am currently a History Major and want to try for copywriting as a career, but I want a fall back. Do you think the skills learned by history would qualify me?
History requires analysis of cultures and changes throughout time, trends that come and go etc. Plus, there is an immense amount of writing involved.
Are there any online courses in India on adcopywriting for non ad professionalsI'm a banker looking for a change of career, but before I take the leap of faith, i'd like to see if I have the skills for it and if it is as interesting as I think. Would like to do a quick online course(which ideally doesn't cost too much!)...are there any Indian ones? I don't have time to attend offline courses and cannot take leave to do a course...
What formal education classes would benefit a copywriterI have a Bachelor's in Business Administration but am interested in copywriting. What classes should I take to help me launch a career. Help deciding a particular careerHi,
I've been in the job field for about five years now. My jobs have mainly been customer service-type positions. I love to write but, as I've discovered writing is best as a hobby. I'm trying to find a job that I could live with that is making upwards of $50k/yr. for an entry-level position. I graduated with BA in Journalism in 2001. I've thought about copywriting, even voice-overs as a career choice, but those two, especially the latter one don't seem very firm. I'm at that point in my life where I'm tired of "breaking even" to make ends meet. I'd like to be able to have a job that's making upwards of $100k before I'm 40. I'm at a loss as to what to do now. Any serious career advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)
How can I become a copywriter without going back to collegeI am a full-time features writer and editor (regional and women's magazines) and I love it, (I write a lot about fashion and food - my two favorite topics) but I know business writers make more money. I would like to take some copywriting courses to boost my income. I'm a quick learner and do well with at-home studies. I taught myself to write as a living after having a career as a celebrity makeup artits.
I heard American Writers and Artist Institute is good. The at-home study course is $507. Any advice?
How can I go about starting my online businessI create clothes, and while the career I'm going into is cooking, right now I would like to make some extra money on the side making clothes. How can I set up a small, inexpensive (free, if possible) website to advertise and find customers. I'm away at school right now, and don't make but so much money every 2 weeks. I have many designs I want to work with, and I'm in the process of copywriting a label. What else needs to be done for me to get a start in the business?
Fashion is it a viable careerI have a bachelor's in psychology, a master's in journalism and I'd love to do something in the fashion world...like fashion copywriting/journalism/advertising or buying...
I'm considering attending a school for merchandise marketing...
1. Will having more schooling help me get a start in the fashion world?
2. Are there actually any fashion jobs/careers that are viable?

what should I include in a copywriting portfolioI applied for some jobs recently, copywriting being one of them, but stopped expecting calls because I got busy with university classes and assignments.
I would like to work as a professional copywriter because I enjoy brainstorming brand development with other creative people, putting words to a sharp marketing message. However, I don't really have any experience doing copywriter work per se. I have been writing stories and journal entries since I was 4, and throughout school have been trained to debate, write ads, make mock marketing campaigns, and do marketing presentations (as SCHOOL ASSIGNMENTS, not quite professionally). Furthermore I have previously worked as a radio talk show host, and earlier as an account executive which required me to present marketing messages well to the client, that I often rehearsed notes as part of the preparation.
Based on these experiences, and my professional aspirations for a creative career putting people's brains together, I think I would enjoy being a copywriter. People have told me that I would make a good one (most of these people are usually people who have seen my school work or people I have worked with in the past).
Anyway, I applied, and just when I wasn't expecting a company called to interview me on Saturday for a copywriter position... said I should bring my portfolio along.
There's only one problem.
I don't have one.
I have two days to go, what should I do?
im sophomore at high school and i want to major in advertisingI go to high school in NY and im really interested in advertising area. That's what I wanna do for my career and for my college major. I would like to know more about advertising in details; actually I don't know the differences of advertising, copywiriting, and advertising/commercial arts.
Also, I'm interested in coming up with ideas for ad. Would you consider that as advertising, copywriting, or advertising arts?
When you explain, it would be easier if you give real life job examples.
