What can you tell me about ... Is copywriting a decent career?

I have an automotive sole proprietorship but now freelance copywriting Do I start another sole pro

I have had my own automotive consulting sole proprietorship for almost 3 yrs now, but I have recently started a freelance copywriting career. The automotive consulting has a business name, but the copywriting will just be under my name. Should I lump all my expenses and profits together on one Schedule C, or do I need to start a second sole proprietorship and fill out two? Thanks.

If I am planning a career in copywritingwriter

Would it be better to get a degree in Journalism, Communication or English?

What do I need to do to pursue a career in Advertising PR and Marketing

I am interested in the creative side of these careers, copywriting, advertising etc, I am doing a comprehensive writing diploma, and want to know what else I would need to do in order to be able to pursue a career in these fields? I currently have a part time admin job, but want a more challenging role. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are there many job opportunities for copywriting careers

Are there realistic job opportunities in copywriting? Do people w/o degrees have any luck. Is it worth time to take a course? How do you go about getting freelance work? Is it a realistic goal?

EditingCopywriting career

Hi, I was an English major 2 years ago but I switched my major to Nutrition and Food Sciences because I thought it would be easier on my hands and my mom said I wouldn't amount to anything with a major in English. I am suppose to graduate next year with this degree but it involves doing an internship afterwards and I don't really like this major as much as I liked English. I wish I hadn't switched now but it's too expensive to switch back and do another 3 years. I am already 22. I just want to get out there and start working. Anyway, is there a chance that I could still do what I love (become an Editor for a book publishing company) without the English degree? Dallas, Are you saying if I possess ANY degree I will be fine? Or a degree in English?

I39ve broken into copywriting as a career but as a newbie I39m terrified of deadlines

I love writing, and consider myself both a writer and an artist. An all-around creative person. I'm excited to be breaking into copywriting as my first career, but I am so afraid of the turn-around time, the deadlines, afraid of cracking under the sudden pressure of the foreign territory of the job. I love learning, too, but I'm learning so much every day that I feel overloaded. Perhaps it is the fear that is stopping me up... Is this normal for a first job in this field? To all copywriters and anyone familiar with the creative process and this particular field, how do you cope? How do you keep up? When did you find your stride so that the deadlines became just a part of the job, and not too big of a deal in the grand scheme of your life? Encouraging words to keep this newbie from demoralizing herself would be great... a story of your experience would be equally salient and welcome. Thanks!

What is the best way to get your first client in copywriting

I am considering a career change from high tech/corporate to freelance copywriting. I consider myself a good writer but am not sure how to break into the field. I've been through training at the local Community College and have read all the books and feel ready!

What is the best way to break into copywriting or freelance copywriting

I have done some reasearch on copywriting. It seems to be a very interesting and profitable career field. However, I have no clue on how anyone would go about starting a career in this field. I am particularly interested in freelance copywriting. I was wondering if anyone out here had any good advice or tips on how to start out in this business. I would like to start on a part time basis doing freelance work and hopefully take it from there.

Hi, when it comes to possible careers, I have two first loves copywriting and sculpture. I realize that I can probably only make a living off one, (probably the copywriting,) but I’m not sure I’m ready to give up the sculpture. Is there any way to combine them or something?

If I major in philosohy and english what kind of career possibilities are available to me

How can I transition to a copyediting career

Have been working in advertising/marketing for 11 years and have done my fair share of both copywriting and editing. Also have a B.A. in Journalism. Looking to make a career change to focus solely on editing. How do i do this while still earning a living?

How do you start a writing career and quickly see profit

I love writing but have been published once when I was in sixth grade. ( I'am now much older) I need to be able to make a little profit but I'am confused about who to write for. I've looked in several different magazines but the competition seems rough considering that I do not have any clips. I 'am struggling with how to start and have overwhelmed myself with technical writing, copywriting, etc. Any help is much appreciated.

Handsome teen starting a copywriting business

Hello, pumpkins. I'm Alex. More specifically, I'm Alex, and I'm a teenager. More importantly, I'm Alex, I'm a teenager, and I want to start my own freelance copywriting career. I've already got my niche market - small, sexy businesses that need sexy web copy to match. I want to slather their webpages with jello, cool whip, and a delicious minty aftertaste that leaves their customers licking their lips for their product (and possibly a pina colada, but that's a personal problem). Slight catch, though. I'm not exactly sure how to get started. I know I must open a website (luckily, I took an HTML class not too long back), get a snazzy name, become known for what I'm doing, and just stick with it, but god, isn't that sort of vague? I mean, I'm not asking to be spoon fed or anything, but how would I even go about getting my first few clients? Ooh, also - is it all even legal? Explanations as well as links are appreciated. Thanks in advance. (I swear I'll give red wine and a slap on the - oh wait, that will get me banned or something, you'll have to settle for being selected as the best answer.) "And exactly who would be writing copy for?" Small firms who can't afford to hire full-time copywriters. Cool ones.

Copywriting and BA Degrees

I mainly want to work in the advertising sector. I want to write ad copy and slogans. I am wondering about the education required for being a copywriter. I am currently a History Major and want to try for copywriting as a career, but I want a fall back. Do you think the skills learned by history would qualify me? History requires analysis of cultures and changes throughout time, trends that come and go etc. Plus, there is an immense amount of writing involved.

Are there any online courses in India on adcopywriting for non ad professionals

I'm a banker looking for a change of career, but before I take the leap of faith, i'd like to see if I have the skills for it and if it is as interesting as I think. Would like to do a quick online course(which ideally doesn't cost too much!)...are there any Indian ones? I don't have time to attend offline courses and cannot take leave to do a course...

is it hard to get a job in advertising and marketing communications

and should i minor in graphic design? orr noooooo... i like a mix of the design and copywriting aspect of the career, but i want the marketing so i have other options available for me. and is it a hard job to handle?

What formal education classes would benefit a copywriter

I have a Bachelor's in Business Administration but am interested in copywriting. What classes should I take to help me launch a career. My local university offers public relations, journalism, advertising, english. Any ideas or info regarding copywriting.

Help deciding a particular career

Hi, I've been in the job field for about five years now. My jobs have mainly been customer service-type positions. I love to write but, as I've discovered writing is best as a hobby. I'm trying to find a job that I could live with that is making upwards of $50k/yr. for an entry-level position. I graduated with BA in Journalism in 2001. I've thought about copywriting, even voice-overs as a career choice, but those two, especially the latter one don't seem very firm. I'm at that point in my life where I'm tired of "breaking even" to make ends meet. I'd like to be able to have a job that's making upwards of $100k before I'm 40. I'm at a loss as to what to do now. Any serious career advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)
