would a career in public relations or marketing be best?

I am currently a communications media major with intentions of going into public relations, but am not sure if I could get a job in this out of college. If I can, what should I minor in? Also, would marketing be a better career choice? Thanks

Answer 1

Definitely Marketing. It'd provide you with better career prospects. Far too many people try to pursue a career in Public relations. If it's not yet too late (3rd or 4th year of your studies), I suggest shifting to a Business program, major in Marketing, and just minor in Communications.

Answer 2

Public relations and marketing are related fields with some course overlap. I would consider public relations to be a bit broader in scope though. On the other hand, marketing allows you to use your creative talents a bit more. Personally I think public relations might have a bit better job prospects. Ultimately you have to ask yourself which one you personally like best.

Answer 3

I find public relations to be a bit bigger in scope . On the other hand, marketing gives you the freedom you to use your creativity and talent a bit more.
