Would making buisness cards and getting a lawyer start of my career?

Im only 15 but however i take my future and my goals really serious. I want to be a fashion designer and i design things now. I have some friends asking me to design this and that. This year i want to take my career further and start early. I was wondering if i made buisnedd cards advertising what i do and get lawyer to prevent copywriting would this really boost my career and get me publicity or is it a waste of time??

Answer 1

Have you already applied for copywrites on your designs?? I am not 100% sure but I hear it can take years before patents and copywrites take into effect. If that is the case, I would hold off on getting a lawyer since you couldn't do anything until your copywrite was in place. Should you start now...sure go for it. No reason not to if its something you wanna do!

Answer 2

Can you afford a lawyer for copywrite protection? That is likely a pretty steep fee. I suggest you look online and at your local library for information regarding copywrite protection and see what you can do yourself. Of course if you can afford a lawyer then go for it. Business cards should be unique and reflective of what you do. They are a great way to promote your business and I recommend them. Most importantly you should check into a Fashion School like Fashion Design Institute or even the local college to get all the information you need to know. If you go to design school you will learn how to make the connections you will need in the Fashion Industry. This is a very tough field to be successful in. I had Upscale Women's boutiques in the 80's & 90's. My daughter grew up in my stores. She had a strong interest in fashion, went to the local college for a Fashion Degree. She aced her Fashion classes. Near the end of her college years she realized it was going to be a hard career to become wealthy at so she changed her major. She did have talent and ideas. She is definitely a Fashionista now, she has great style. She is sucessful in the business world but not in the fashion world. I am only telling you this to make you aware of what you are looking at. If you want to design you will need to show your work. Through school you can make the connections at Fashion Shows if you are successful.
