I've been looking into the career of Public Relations and I'm very sure that its the thing I want to do with my life. Anyways the thing I want to know is:
- What things should I major in besides Public Relations? Is Journalism okay?
- Are there any schools in NYC that you would recommend for PR?
- Is there anything now, in high school, that I can start doing to prepare myself?
Thanks much in advance!

What's wrong with going to a school in NYC? I'm guessing that stands for New York City? New York City is one of the biggest and baddest cities when it comes to business/public relations. You probably will have access to different public relations agencies for internships and jobs.
You don't have to major in public relations. I'm a Communications major, which is a diverse field of study that can get you a job in public relations. Journalism is okay. But I would go towards Communications because Journalism will be more focused on writing for a newspaper/magazine/etc.
While in high school, get involved. Whether it's writing for your school newspaper, or joining a club, or joining student government. These experiences will prepare you for college and can even help you get into college. Also, search the internet to see if there are any public relations related work you can do such as volunteering for an agency.
Good luck! Answer 2
I would think that universities/colleges that offer business classes would be good for you, given your interests. I agree that a Communications major is good; a broad overview of the field.
Look into NYU, Pace, Baruch, Columbia to start with.
Good suggestion re: interning or volunteering at a local PR firm. Will help you to be sure it's an area of interest, give you some skills (perhaps) and also look good on your transcript/resume/college application. << GO BACK to questions
