Is Technical writing a good career choice?

All Answers To Questions

Answer 1

yes, and no. If you write a great book than you'll get paid a lot. But you should always have a backup plan. You only get paid like 39 cents per book that gets sold.

Answer 2

That's a good question. I know several technical writers that make a fairly good career. They do anything from technical manuals to help files, to website content. So, currently, I believe it's a good career - like any job you have to create a market for yourself. Going forwards, I'm not sure where it will go. There will always be a market for it, but I'm not sure if it's going to grow. I think society is changing in their communication and reading, and I'm not sure what impact that will have on websites and technical manuals. There will always be a market for the sharing of information - the key will be to adapt on the delivery.
