If you are studying practical psychology which will help understand and better relate to people, it should translate into better interviewing skills and better stories. The more a journalist can gain the trust and friendship of the person she is interviewing the more the person will share. For example, Sarah Palin started off being very open with reporters and journalist only to have them trap her and ridicule her in the press. Palin soon became more guarded in her answers as her distrust of the media grew. Using the right psychology you could probably get someone like Sarah to be more open. However you should not use psychology to lead someone to belittle them. If you notice the different styles of the network news journalist each has their own style, but they all use psychology to connect with the audience. Most are acting when they do an interview or report a story. If you are good at social psychology you will be better able to relate to both your subject and your audience an tell an interesting story. Best of luck The PracticaL Mentor << GO BACK to questions
