Editing/Copywriting career?

Hi, I was an English major 2 years ago but I switched my major to Nutrition and Food Sciences because I thought it would be easier on my hands and my mom said I wouldn't amount to anything with a major in English. I am suppose to graduate next year with this degree but it involves doing an internship afterwards and I don't really like this major as much as I liked English. I wish I hadn't switched now but it's too expensive to switch back and do another 3 years. I am already 22. I just want to get out there and start working. Anyway, is there a chance that I could still do what I love (become an Editor for a book publishing company) without the English degree? Dallas, Are you saying if I possess ANY degree I will be fine? Or a degree in English?

If you posess a degree - or any alternative qualification - then you'll already be in front of of the masses when it comes to looking for careers. My buddy has a degree and he wasn't sure what direction to go with it, but he stumbled upon some great instruction on the resource in the resource box below which helped him to settle that he wanted to be a lab assistant. There is loads of assistance on the resource regarding alternative careers.

im not too sure.. English would help you mostly.. but you need to be a copyrwiter first dont you? how about get lots and lots of experience, working with books, libraries.. do more courses..you know perhaps a one year crash course in publishing/ anything english related. your experience might stand out alot. you might be able to work your way up to an editor... research it..it's very possible.. they might train you up on the job if you get tobe a copy writer..or proof reader.. or u cud get a job in the field ur in now, and earn money to be pay for more education good luck..

Answer 3

"Experience & Passion" is far important than mere degree in particular field.
