Community colleges that offer creative writing degrees?

All Answers To Questions

Answer 1

It is called an AA degree. That is what you get as it is a prerequisite.

Answer 2

It depends on what you want the degree for. community colleges will only go up to 2 year associate degrees (or other technical degrees such as automotive repair or AC maintenance). There are several colleges that offer a 4 year degree in creative writing. If you are looking to keep college costs down, you can do a general Associates in Arts (AA) degree at any local community college, and then transfer to a 4 year school to finish your last 2 years. Your last 2 years will be the time frame when you do your classes of your major anyway. There may be additional creative writing classes offered from the community college that you could do to round out your credit requirements. Your options may be even more limited if you are trying to do a degree exclusively online. Many larger community colleges offer basic AA degrees online, but the creative writing degree part may be more challenging to find online. I would look at Florida State College of Jacksonville, which is a very large college (just transitioned from a large community college to a state 4 year school), at www.fscj.edu. Their tuition is pretty reasonable if you are in FL, but they also have extensive information online about their programs, so you could at least read through the website so you know what to look for at your local school. For this type of specialty program, I would look for larger community colleges since they will have more of a student body to support these types of specialized programs.
