I graduated with a degree in publishing a month ago and have been looking for a job in copyediting for a few months now. Yes, I think it's difficult to get into it. First you need to be a proofreader for a few years which pays about 30,000 a year if you're lucky. Some copyeditors with about 15 years experience in a large corporation can earn about 90,000 though. You need at least a bachelors in English. It helps to have a Master's, or a great internship. You may also need a few years as an admin assistant before going into proofreading too, but that depends on what you find.
